HASS

The Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) curriculum provides students with a broad understanding of the world through the study of history, geography, civics and citizenship, and economics and business. Students explore ancient to modern history, natural and human environments, political and legal systems, and economic principles. This diverse content creates an awareness of past events and contemporary issues, promoting a well-rounded worldview.

In addition to content knowledge, the HASS curriculum emphasises the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, research, communication, and collaboration skills. Students learn to develop inquiry questions, research and analyse information, and draw conclusions. Through these skills, they become informed, responsible, and active citizens. As they progress to the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), students have the opportunity to select specialist or interest subjects within HASS, allowing them to tailor their studies to their interests and career aspirations.

HASS is a compulsory subject in year 7 to 10 (year 10 is one semester only).
